5:26am
Nah, bladder not full enough yet.

6:38am
Ok. Now suddenly wide awake. Time to check out the beach. After the bathroom trip. And after I change. And after I clear anything critical out of the tent. It has pretty much reached its water-holding max. Still not hungry… so I head out to the beach.

Still looking at the trees here. I feel like the best word for them is “calloused,” like they’ve had a lot to weather out here. Also, nearly everything has dried off already from the night of rain, which is pretty impressive.

7:50am
Well, that was my first trip to a US Ocean (in my memory). Lots of observations:

People come to just sit or stroll and gaze at the ocean. It’s like the international sign for calm.

Walking in the sand is tiring, but it smoothes the rough spots on your feet. Insert metaphor on life.

Walking on the sand that has been beaten by the waves is easier. It is packed down, and supports your weight better. The sand that has never been pressed by the crash of water is slippery, and gives in easily. But, if you stand on the packed down sand while the tide comes in, and don’t make a move, the apparently firm sand is slowly being washed out from under you. Insert deeper metaphor for life.

9:30am ish
Packed up everything and took another quick shower, ate a little something, now it’s time to head out.

10:45am ish
Stuck in traffic already… I thought it would be easier to be LEAVING on a Saturday aaaaaaggggckcck.

2:15pm
Finally. In. Boston. Navigating going fine. Wait, except that road that HAD NO SIGN that I missed. Obviously. Had to call and be lead in over the phone with Google maps and expert-like Boston navigation skills. But, while there really was no reason to, I still got an unexpected driving tour of the Back Bay and Jamaica Plain. And, saw the enormous creepy baby heads at the Museum of Fine Arts.

2:45pm
Arrived at destination. That was tedious. Time to chill out for a while.

6:38pm
WINGS AND BEER AND THE MICHAEL PHELPS DRINKING GAME!

8:51pm
Heading out for IMPROV … after we move my car, we’ll take the T in, then a cab back. For some ridiculous reason, the T stops all trains at midnight.

10:04pm-1:16am
Pretty much laughed continuously. This was amazing. Better than medicine.

1:23am
Ancient Old Navy flip flops aren’t so good for catching a cab in Boston… or driving… but pretty much everything else, yes.

2:28am
This is the latest I’ve been awake not due to insomnia or overactive brain syndrome in a very long time. Aaaand I think it’s time to head in.

Ok, after we watch some more DVR’d Olympics. Phelps and whatnot.

Being here makes me want to do the MFA thing, but definitely not in this city… weird. It’s like I don’t know what else to do. After all, it’s clear I need a new career.

Really, you’ve never seen the atlantic before?? That must have been awesome for you then. It takes my breath away every time I see it. Plus it smells really good.

Yay!!! Ah, I LOVE reading about your adventures!! I REALLY wish I could have experienced your ocean experience with you!! But, once again, I also think it’s so great to do stuff like that on your own…

And SO JEALOUS about the improv night! Ah!! So great!

I hit and yelled at a lot of people today. But I also laughed a lot with those same people. :) And one of them even bought me ice cream! We went to Carvel and I got the ice cream cake flavor! yummy! Sort of like the anti Sunset Delight flavor :)

Hope you have a great drive tomorrow!!

Wow! I got an ‘expert-like Boston navigation skills’ rating. I feel a little like a champ. :) So glad you were here!
